Information about Masjid-e-Nabwi

Masjid-e-Nabwi is the mosque established by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) upon his migration to Madinah (then called Yasrab or Yathrib). It is the second-largest mosque in the world, after Masjid al-Haram in Makkah.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave the Muslims of Madinah the title of Ansaar, which means Helpers, whereas the Muslims of Quraysh and other tribes which had left their homes called Muhajirun, meaning Emigrants. Ansaar and Muhajireen, including the Prophet (PBUH) himself, worked together for the construction of Masjid e Nabwi.  The size of the masjid was approximately 35 x 30 meters and the height 2.5 meters, but seven years later at the time of Fateh of Khyber, Masjid was rebuilt to increase the space for worshipers to worship. When the revelation came down to change the Qibla to Makkah in 624 CE, the whole masjid was re-orientated to the south, and then masjid was also served as a religious school and court.

Riyadh Ul Jannah

Riyadh ul Jannah: The area between the sacred chamber and the Minbar (Pulpit) is known as the Riadh ul Jannah, which means Garden of Paradise. A green carpet presently distinguishes it. The original size of Riadh ul Jannah is approximately 15 meters in width and 22 meters in length.
